Twitter Extends Enhanced Pages for Businesses

Late last year, Twitter launched their new pages for a few brands (including but not limited to Coca Cola, Dell, Bing and Amex), but whilst their design was taken up a notch, and allowed for the ability to promote tweets, they didn’t really take on anything exceptionally sophisticated just yet.

You can tell the ones who have got it: not only do they have the banner ad on their page; they are also proudly displaying a YouTube video in pride of place at the top of the screen.

According to Twitter “An enhanced profile page increases your brand’s Twitter presence by prominently featuring your most important content and visually branding your page. Your enhanced profile page is completely public — users can view it without joining or logging into Twitter.

A banner image at the top shows cola exploding out of the company’s famous glass bottle. The first tweet displayed isn’t the company’s latest, but one carefully placed there to display Coke’s Super Bowl ad.

Enhanced profile pages are currently available to a small selection of brands; they will be rolled out more broadly in the coming weeks and months.

The question will be whether or not Twitter actually creates a transaction system on the platform. This of course will start for the brands to sell goods, but developers will be quick to jump onto the API to enable direct billing for Twitter App Services.
